Admin Help

The ClustrMaps Admin and registration pages cater for three categories of users:

  1. Existing or newly-registered user, registered after 18-July-2005: You are a ClustrMaps user, and want to (a) copy the ClustrMaps HTML code onto your site, or (b) modify your settings (such as your password, or the frequency of map updates), or (c) simply inspect your statistics in more fine-grained detail than the maps show.
  2. Invited user: You were invited by email to sign up for ClustrMaps.
  3. New or 'additional': You have heard about, seen, or just 'stumbled across' ClustrMaps, and want one for your own site, or perhaps want an additional one for an additional site, sub-site, or blog that you look after.

These are described in turn below.

Existing users - using your URL correctly as your login identity

When you applied originally to create a new ClustrMaps account, in addition to your email address you provided a specific URL indicating the web address where you wanted to insert the ClustrMaps HTML code. You may have used a 'generic' site address such as http://mysite.com or an address with the full 'slash' notation such as http://mysite.com/ or indeed you may have used a pointer to the exact page such as http://mysite.com/index.html . Typically any/all of these will result in the same page being 'served up' to visitors, so it does not really matter which you use, but you must be consistent, since ClustrMaps stores your personal maps along with the naming convention that you chose when you provided your URL.

Invited users:

If you were invited by email to register for ClustrMaps, after you fill in your URL and email, here is what happens next:

Because of the volume of traffic, part of our new approach to scaleability requires us to assume that your conversion is to a (free) ClustrMaps account, for which we can only show a single zoomed-in World Map. Zooming further (e.g. on the seven continents and a few selected countries) requires a ClustrMaps+ account, since that is the only way we can keep up with the demand! (Upgrade info).

Those wishing to create a new ClustrMaps account, but who have not been specifically invited by email:
